You will need  

Candle Jars (SQJ-S pictured) Container Wax Candle Dye WIcks Candle Scent 1 1/2" Checked Ribbon or Cotton Material cut in 1 1/2" strips If using a larger jar you can use a wider ribbon or cut material. Race Car Buttons (local craft store) Mod Podge Large Brush Glue Gun - Glue Sticks

Step 1  

Wick you jars, heat wax to recommended temperature add you color and scent and pour your candles when at recommended temperature. Let Completely set up and cool

Step 2  

Cut a strip ribbon or material that will go all the way around the jar with a slight overlap in the back. If using a larger jar you can cut the material wider than 1 1/2". Using the brush and mod podge, paint a section with the mod podge, place ribbon on area and smooth out. Repeat this until you have gone completely around jar and therer is a slight overlapping of the material. let Dry Paint a coating over the top of the ribbon or material this will aid in the bonding of the material to the jar. Let Dry

Step 3  

If you are using decorative buttons you will first want to trim off the back loop on the bottons this will aid in them laying flat against the jar. Using the hot glue gun place a small drop of glue on the back of the button and firmly press in to place. Repeat this for all cars, flags etc that are being placed around jar. Let Dry

Step 4  

If you are using fabric shapes, cut design as close to the edges as possible. Apply a small amount of mod podge on jar and place cut out on top place a thin layer of mod podge over design to help seal it ,, repeat this for all cut out. When completed paint 2 layers of mod podge around entire fabric this will seel it.

Step 5  

If you are using patches it is best you apply them with your hot glue gun andno further mod podge will be needed. Let Set Up and Cool

Ideas Variations  

This idea can be used for any type of motorized racing, dirt bikes, bmx bikes, any sport that uses a checkered flag can be adapted to this design.
